Title: honey brook turkey hill...
Post by: oz353 on May 27, 2013, 06:27:06 AM
Was anybody from this board there this morning?

Walked out to get smokes and instantly heard the distinct note of a gs500 with an aftermarket exhaust. Indeed it was an F model with no graphics except on the tank, and a yoshimura slip on. Unfortunately for me, I have no one to ride with around here, by the time I got to the parkinglot he was pulling off. Was only able to blurt "nice 500" as he passed me by.

I had someone one a 500 cruise by me when I drove my car in the rain last week. Wanted to catch em at a red light and ask if they were a member here. I as well don't really have anyone to ride with.

I'm just north of Philly and I've only seen that one rider. Other than that I've seen an 09 in a shop for sale and some on craigslist. Most guys I meet are shocked to know I own a 92 E model. They thought it was newer when I park it by their new bikes even with the paint chips. But not one a GS, I want a GS rider to cruise around with haha.

I'm nearby in Newark, DE and commute occasionally to Center City Philly on my GS.

I just had to see what this thread was with a title like that,....

reminds me, was riding to work a couple weeks back, lane splitting to the light where just happened to be a raggedy F.  Thought: 'nice a fellow gs'r!!!!'  PUlled up next to him and he wouldn't even look a me.  Light turned green and he raced away.  ??? Oooo-k

Just goes to show ya, there are unfriendly people no matter what you are on. I ride my GS, one friend has a Harley, one has a Yamaha Maxim, another has a Kawi Z1000. We don't care what you're on, as long as it's 2 wheels.

The looks we get as a group though  :cookoo:

Ok so I'm not the only odd one haha. My buddy's dad has a cruiser and people give us odd looks when we come racing down the road.

And J Banning, we should ride some time. I try to avoid Philly at all costs, I hate traffic, but I'm almost always out and about.

Leave a note on their seat when you see a GS500 bike parked somewhere.  I see GS500s from time to time near me, but we never connect.  Either they are not going my way, or I am late.  That, and I'm not a stalker...don't have the attention span.

I got a good laugh in today. A buddy said he knew someone who has a setup for painting, so I went with him to meet the guy and see what he'd want for it. Turns out he has a 91 GS  :thumb: He knows the forum and searches time to time, just not a member......yet. I'll corrupt him haha. Glad to finally know someone else in my area with one.  :woohoo:

im guessing the guy i saw isnt local... havent seen him around yet.  i do ride with my mom and her boyfriend... they have cruiser bikes too. but they only put around 1000 miles a year on their bikes so the rides with them are few and far between. also i tend to ride with a brisk pace where they tend to putter along.

I'm in that area occasionally-  live in Lancaster (columbia) grew up near Gap.

Just bought a yellow GS500F for my girlfriend so maybe we'll see you around!

Most likely will be at the July Ephrata rally. Maybe I'll see you guys there. We usually park at the top of the hill, 'bout 9:30am.
