i know that since the mighty gs is a suzuki that we tend to( but not always) use other suzuki parts. i know the cbr pegs and and small other things....... but if anybody knows what other manufactures stuff will work with our bike that could open up a whole new horizion of parts.
case in point.......what other bikes shocks will work on this bike. from the likes of the older cbr's or fzr's and zxr's......oooooooo and ducati's
maybe these parts are crap and i have totally missed the point.
Well ZX series shocks are very very long, CBR shocks are eyelet and eyelet, CBR switches are same as GS but their wiring is different. I fit any damn thing on any bike, as long as it server a purpose and GS's parts have been modded or not modded and droppped in all of my bikes. I dont really think I have done the opposite. GS shoks on my eli, GS clutch and brake master cyl on my virago, Shadow shocks on my other eli, Magna gas tank on my 900 eli, vulcan front end on my 900 eli as well, on the GS its pretty much GSXR/Katana/RF parts only, maybe I dont have kawi and yamaha sport bikes...
Cool.
Srinath.
This a qoute from my shock mod page.
"The shocks that will work on a GS lets see... 89-95 GS will take any shock basically, The aluminium clevise GS can accept any short or long clevise shock. The 96+ gs needs a shock with a long clevise or some grinding on the steel linkage to clear the short shock clevise. Long clevise shocks. All 600 Kat's, 92-93 GSXR 600, Bandit 1200 and more Short clevise shocks. 88-95 gsxr 750, 89-98 GSXR 1100, All 750 Kat's, All RF 6 and 9's, some old GS series bikes like the GS 700 ES etc. In the short clevise bike list the GSXR and RF shocks have that adjustment dial in the bottom of the clevise that makes the shock a little more like the short clevise one even though they are the long clevise kind. You dont want to risk hitting that dial with the linkage when the bike is running so treat it like a short clevise. That's all I can think of right now." _ Srinath
So what's your point JohNLA. Besides ~ a month ago I ate most of those words... The short clevise/long clevise and the steel linkage/alloy linkage... Basically looooooooooooooose tolerances and my being full of shaZam! have sorta exploded the clevise/linkage theory. The final consensus was... any damn shock (from those bikes Kat/RF/GSXR etc) might or might not fit any damn (year of GS) bike. How's that for being specific.
Cool.
Srinath.
Sorry, I was only trying to help and your response was not showing when I posted. I also didn't realise that some info in that qoute might be wrong. I will edit my page.
