Title: Locking my bike in apt/condo complex
Post by: Gorilla on May 30, 2013, 02:31:14 PM
Hello,

After searching for some other posts on the subject i think i have made my decsion.

due to the monthly costs associated with renting a storage space and having to walk there all the time I was wondering if anyone can recommend a DIFFERENT heavy duty lock for my motorcycle. The area i plan to keep it in is not very dangerous and i have not seen or heard of a car jacking. I have seen broken windows though. Lynnwood washington 164thst exit area.

In my condo complex i have a carport i can use which has a 5x5 inch steel beam to wrap a chain and motorcycle too. I was going to wrap a chain such as,

http://www.amazon.com/Kryptonite-999492-Black-Fahgettaboudit-Chain/dp/B001SMUB7G/ref=sr_1_3?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1369946146&sr=1-3&keywords=Kryptonite+New+York+Fahgettaboudit+U-Loc

Not sure if there are better options though. For example a longer chain. 14mm thick seems very adequate though. I was also going to buy a cover for it that locks in order to deter thieves from even looking at the bike. Also to  hopefully prevent any kids or anyone else poking and prodding at the bike.

Thanks for your input in advance!

My friend uses a xena disc lock alarm. Thing is solid stainless steel, and loud as hell when it goes off. Im thinking about getting one for mine.

Forget to take it off 1 time and youll wish someone stole your bike.  Dish locks are horrible ideas.  Should be illegal to sell.

That's what we were saying. You'll be in that "I'm late to work" mode rushing to leave and bang there's the bike on the ground.

If you are on the ground floor, park it in the living room!
