Couple of questions..
Has anybody noticed fuel starvation issues using 1/4 fuel line?
Are there any rebuild parts available for the petcock, new diaphragm mostly..
Any little quirks to disassembling the petcock?
Got the steady high speed starvation issue, and figured I'd putter with it.
i pulled the petcock apart, cleaned it with some hoppes #9, and put it back together using permatex #2 on the diaphragm to get a good seal. havent had a chance to throw it back on the bike yet.
i would check all fuel and vacuum lines for leaks or obstructions. i'm not a carb expert, but i think sticky floats could do this too.
I'm almost certain the fuel line I bought was 5/16
With that being said, I have the after market K&N lunchbox and at high speeds with the petcock in its normal running position I would get starvation. That's why I leave it in prime and ride. It's been left in prime for so long that I cannot even remember what the normal position is.
On a side note, in the beginning when I had the issue, I tore my petcock apart. I posted pics of everything. Nothing was wrong with it. Spotless on the inside. Still though, I purchased a brand new petcock from an extremely low mileage 09 and still had the same issue. This led me to believe and understand it was not a petcock issue.
just replaced the fuel line on my 05 and I used 5/16. It the petcock nipples were to large to fit 1/4 on comfortably.
If you do use 1/4" (I used 1/4" tygon in fact), I really doubt fuel starvation from the size would be an issue. Consider that the tank Petcock is more suited for 1/4" anyway, and gas flows through that size before the frame Petcock that is suited more for 5/16". Now, I could imagine there is probably a reason Suzuki has designed it that way other than trying to make you buy OEM parts, but I don't know that reason... And I haven't had any issues with using 1/4" fuel line... As weedahoe pointed out he used 5/16" and he had an issue with starvation due to his airfilter and jet setup anyway, regardless of using 5/16"... So I doubt size matters much 'in this case'

I am using 1/4" clear on mine now as I was having starvation issues with the genuine ones but now no problems whatsoever.
