i found this in the box of parts the guy I bought my bike from gave me. what exactly is this and do I need it?  thx

That is the fork brace. it is highly recomended you install that...

also that appears to be RELOAD's fork brace. he is a member here and had produced quite a few of these much thicker fork braces.   i have one my self   :D

Thanks i never looked up in there and was wodering where this went.  you say highly recommended so i think I'll put it on.  can i do this myself and do I need to remove the front wheel? it looks like I do (my bike is 09) thx for the info

yes easier to install with front wheel removed
