Title: wiring in new lights
Post by: Zmerica19 on June 02, 2013, 05:26:07 PM
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Motorcycle-2-Color-LED-Turn-Signals-Amber-Blinker-Blue-Indicator-Light-/360668025363?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f97d5213&vxp=mtr

i really like these blinkers and would like to somehow put them on my bike. my main concern is the normal blinkers are 2 wires and since these are also running lights how exactly would i tie that third wire in? my one idea was possibly into the head light but that would involve stripping wires. any ideas would be greatly appreciated

They are also l.e.d., so you will need resistors to make them work.  If you aren't comfortable taping into the front running light for the 3rd turn signal wire you probably won't feel comfortable doing the wiring for any of the l.e.d. lights, 2 or 3 wire.

I would avoid them. You can get pulled over as blue lights are restricted for police use only. If you're is some other country, maybe not but I would suspect the same would be true elsewhere. If not a law, you could get pulled over for making someone think you were the police.

If you are parked and posing, you can do whatever you want. When on the road, you have to watch out for the legal restrictions on lights.

If you chose to use them, that's your choice. I'm just mentioning the law for your reference.

(FYI: The indicator light would connect to the brown wire going to your tail light. That's the running light circuit.)

Oh, and the ad clearly states:
Not D.O.T. approved. For off road use only

yea i decided to refrain from getting them and got vader led's instead. they wouldnt have been blue flashing lights which are curtisy lights which are used by volunteer firemen. and they may say not DOT approved but who honestly listens to the manufacturer says?
