So i decided to pull my carbs out a couple days ago to check the floats. When i was putting the bike back together i was having trouble getting the gas lines back on the petcock, and i didnt have any gas lying around to use as lube (which is what i usually use to get the lines back on). My dumb self decided to use WD-40 to lube up the lines on the inside. :cookoo: Then, when i started her up this morning, i noticed that it was bogging alot in the higher rpms and then shut off. Confused, i started thinking of what it could be. After checking the spark plugs for a spark and checking the compression it finally dawned on me that its the carbs! When i pulled the carbs out, i saw this long jelly thing clogging up my main jet. My best guess is that it was the WD-40 i used to get the gas lines back on to the petcock. Now its running perfect again, and i will NEVER use WD-40 on the gas lines again  :thumb:
"NEVER use WD-40 on the gas lines again"...........good to hear.
I have used WD40 to lube the nipples on the tank petcock to get the lines on and havent had issues but I dont use a lot and never inside the fuel lines. Either way, glad you got her running
Yeah after a couple of smokes and plenty of cursing she started right up. :D but i did miss class because of it...

Naw im going to school to be a mechanic. It was actually the GS500 and this website that inspired me to start my career as an automotive technician. Couldnt afford to take it to the shop for every problem/upgrade i wanted/needed to do on my bike so i came on here to learn how to work on my bike and i immediately loved it! You can call it my GS500 technician career love story if you wish :D
