Title: Heart dropped this morning..
Post by: Calpantera on June 17, 2013, 07:46:57 AM
So I had my GS warming up in the driveway while I went inside to get my gear and as I was walking outside I noticed I did not hear it running. Of course first thing I thought was that I had ran it out of gas and as I rounded the corner I did not see him (That's right my GS is a boy GS because he got balls!) so then I thought someone absconded with him, but nope I found him sitting on his side because I am a dumbass and left him warming up on the side stand at a slight downward slope. At least he had stalled and did not drop into gear while running and flop around on the ground like a wounded animal, I did not even struggle lifting him up, either GS's are really light or I was running under adrenalin.   :) Damage is pretty minimal, bent the bar weight screw and the left side of the bars themselves are a bit bent forward, no noticable damage to the tank or plastics, heck not even the signals that I noticed anyway. Yay for naked bikes!  After I stood him back up and cranked for a second he fired right up, seemed like he was running on one cyl for a second or two then he was fine. Not even any blue smoke or anything from oil in the cyl. I drove him around the driveway and decided he was good to go so off to work we went. Actually ran really good on the ride in, I think the shift lever might have gotten tweaked but he actually shifted better than before, seemed to shift more solid and ran like a bat out of hell. He was all buuurrrp, buuurrp and the freeway so at that time I finally decided on his name... BumbleBee, because he sounds like one of those big ol fat bumblebees when I get on it! Also because of the black and yellow paint job  ;)

DAMN MAN. your a story teller. I thought you were about to say it got stolen! :o . i freaked out for a bit. I also warm up the bike on a dead end and the edge of the driveway is on a slight slant. I think i will say to HELL with it and just warm her up in the garage, even if it does stink it up.

I've done the same thing, right after I finished washing it. Broken mirror, scratched plastics, scratch muffler.

I did the same thing as you. Only damage was bending the bars (more than they already were) and a dent you can barely notice. I got nice black drag bars after that, much better.

I dont know whats worse, your situation, or mine. I was standing 20ft away when mine fell and all i could do was run towards it and not make it in time. Yes, they are very easy to pickup.

As long as we're confessing, I did the same damn thing.  My damage was a dent in the tank from the bar end and a loosened float needle.  Learned my lesson.
