Ok I've talked to my friend some about making the gauge faces for the GS500e....
I have a spare set of gauges or two here I can dismantle ( I must be nuts..) and send to him for scanning and editing-etc etc etc.....
I need to get a REAL idea on how many people would like a set of these to make sure the effort is worthwhile on both our parts.....
What you would get is a glue on overlay for your gauges -you have to install/have them installed. Srinath has a system (perhaps a HOW-TO could be made as well...)....
So anyway let's hear how many people here are seriously interested (IE WILL buy them if they get made).
What are the costs for the white faced gauges?
count me in, the shipping of something that fits in an envelop can't be much, but I'd like to see them first
I'd think high end would be about 25$ a set for the gauge overlays. Yes shipping wouldn't be much at all (likely just included in the price). He's willing to make them for us...so it's all up to the level of interest.
For 25 beans and shipping, we ought to get a 5HP bump free with those ;)
Did I forget to mention that it will add 7 HP to your bike??

And you will lose 25lbs after installing them and sitting on your bike...
Oh, yeah, I'm in.
Lane
also dont forget, your pee pee will grow six inches  :bs: :dunno:
heh...no only 4 yama..hehehe...
Seriously I do need a real idea on how many want them, I already dismantled my "new " set of gauges ---except for the pin on the face...anyone have any methods to get them out without destroying the pin(the needle rest.....??
Count me in, I would also like to see them first. I assume that you put these faces over the existing ones? hence the 'glue on overlay'?
will them be like 2 big decals? I'd like to know more about it.
we could get a top end speed increment by doing miles of only 90% the distance, and rev up to 17K... he he
Yes they would be a glue on overlay. It would be one for each gauge obviously....
I said before that I might be interested but after reading Srinath's post, it sounds like more time investment than I want to put in. Sorry. Also, I thought they would allow the light through the back and so you could put in a blue backlight.
Rob
that's one reason i don't need white face guages.....if you stick the printed paper, you have to find a way to get the light shining on the paper.....
You stiill get wraparound light on the face-and with White gauges it's usually enough. The VX800 has white faced gauges (hell it uses the same mount bracket for the gauges as the GS500e) -and I'm pretty sure the whole white of the gauge face doesn't light and have the black numbers etc not lit ( incidentally the vx800 gauges probably use the same housing and cover design as the GS....I doubt they would have designed completely new chassis's for the gauge internals...).
Anyway I guess you wont want a set GRU...
As soon as I can get the pins loose I'll be sending the gauge faces out to be made..
i don't need them yet...mayble later when i finish my bike....right now i have to worry about starting my bike and forget about the looks for now :(
when I was into trucks... I still am but not as much anymore, I made a tutorial on how to make your own custom gauges... I would think it would be the same!

If anyone has a 300 DPI scan of the gauges, I could try something... I've had the ones in my truck in for 2 years now... and they've never faded!
Let me know
OK lights in the guage is from under the guage. You can swap it in under 2 mins right now. And blue bulbs are available at walmart. Buy 194 B or G in blue.
There is also 2 kinds of white guages. One kind looks white in day time but lights up like it does now. That is usually called reverse style. The second type is white and lights up with white face and dark numbers. Put in blue lights and the white face becomes blue. Check out Streetracerparts.com.
Cool.
Srinath.
I got the pins out (you may not have take your pins out this may only be for scanning purposes....)...So the faces go out tommorrow.
Once I get them back and assemble the gauges I'll get some pics in daylight and night time with them lit.....
(added:)
He sent me his instruction sheet for the other gauge overlays he makes. Some gauge faces will come off with alcohol- or you use 320 grit sandpaper and sand the existing stuff off IF you want the dials to REALLY glow (IE they will light up through the face as well.).
did you scan them? If you did can you send them to me?
