Title: LED Gauges
Post by: Bscanlon64 on June 26, 2013, 08:59:56 AM
Just got my LEDs in the mail for the gauges and indicators. Does anyone know if I need to pull the speedo and tach cables to do this?

Nope. Just unbolt the plastic housing and you can get to the gauge bulbs from behind. The indicator bulbs you can just pull out from behind the cluster without removing anything.

Oh, and remember to remove the trip knob before the gauge housing!  You don't want to break that off...

Thanks for the quick responses! Sounds like this is going to be easier than i thought. Now, I've also got the rubber or whatever they are gauge surrounds/gaskets coming in some time this week. Will i have to pull the cables for that?

You have to undo the cable, there is not enough room to get the guage out far enough to do - well maybe there is, but why you want to work in that tiny space ?
Cool.

They are literally screwed in. Just look back there. There is a cable with a textured coupling or whatever you want to call it. Grab that and loosen. The cable will just come out of the speedo and rpm gauge.

The internal cable itself is a squared and has to fit back into the squared fitting on the back of the gauges, don't force it.

Also test all lights before buttoning it back up, it will save you frustration if ones not seated correctly, etc.

Also unless you mod the blinkers it may only blink in one direct and stay solid in the other when switched to LED.
