Title: Bike won't stay on
Post by: StevenDavisPhoto on July 01, 2013, 01:13:01 PM
Hey Folks,

So, I neglected my bike a bit and let it sit for several weeks outside uncovered. I trickle charged it last night, and it starts up, but even with the choke on, the revving is a little weak, and as soon as I turn off the choke, or give it a little gas to rev it up, it dies and I have to restart it again. What's the issue? Thanks.

-Steve

Gummed up carbs would be my first thought.
Did you happen to drain the float bowls before you parked it?

no. i don't know much about storing the bike. i just let it sit too long i think. seems to be a carb issue. i'll have my friend look at it.

Search some of the older threads there is plenty of info for cleaning carbs. Also there is a link to a video for cleaning the carbs that for the life of me I can't find. I'm sure someone else would be able to post the link for you.

Is there enough gas in the tank? Try running on prime or reserve to see if it still dies. Also, how old was the gas when you parked it? How old is it now? Maybe just needs fresh gas.
