Title: Finally...
Post by: Michael on January 17, 2004, 04:39:01 PM
...a (relatively) clean bike and a camera in the same place at the same time.  Herewith photos of my new pipe and shock- both have been fantastic.

The pipe is a Magnun Pro Series from www.formula1mc.com.au.  It is a direct bolt-on, took me about 1/2hr to fit and sounds GREAT!
The shock is a Hagon, adjustable for preload and damping.  I got it from the UK.  It, also, is GREAT!  It also is a direct bolt-on, no grinding or anything.  Took <1/2hr to fit.
I would thoroughly recommend both products.  :thumb: [/url]

 Love the fact that you took the pics at the car wash. No chance for the dirt to hitch a ride.

how do you know which exhaust system will fit the GS when buying?

I want to put a new exhaust on it too...something that will give me more power...but not so expensive...what are my choices???? :dunno:

Most exhaust manufacturers websites will have a fitment guide.  If they don't, they will have an email address to ask them.  With mine, the company said they weren't sure it would fit as it had only ever been tried up to 1998 before.  I figured it would fit as there hadn't been any major structural mods to the engine or lower half of the frame over the life of the GS500 models so I took a punt.  If you don't want the expense you could consider a slip-on muffler with the stock headers.  That would be better than the stock pipe but not as good as a full system in my opinion.  Good luck.

Don't Know!  :dunno:  Extra weight?  Extra complexity?  Not having it doesn't seem to affect the performance. You'll also notice the lefthand header is slightly longer than the righthand one.  This also doesn't seem to make any difference.  Go figure!
