Title: Throttle tube
Post by: Courtice_GS500 on July 02, 2013, 01:07:14 PM
Just wondering if anyone could tell me what SV or R6 throttle would work for an 02' gs. My wrist and elbow are taking a pounding with the stock setup.

Thanks

R6 throttle tube that will fit 02 gs500 and later models only is motion pro part number 01-0094

Will do. Thanks

Can someone answer what I'm sure is a stupid question?

Why is there 2 throttle cables on these bikes?

This tube will fit a '01 as well correct? Is '01 (the redesign of the tank, seat etc) is the cut-off for this throttle tube? Just making sure since I have an '01 and really want a quicker throttle.

One cable opens the throttle. The other snaps it closed when you let go so if one breaks, you are not stuck with an open throttle

The SV tube will make it closer to a 1/5 turn, and the R6 tube will make it more like a 1/6 turn.  Stock is 1/4.  I found out the hard way that the R6 tube doesn't quite work with the '89-'00, but the SV tube does.  I love the mod.  With the SV tube the difference is subtle, but makes things much more comfortable on the wrist.

Yeah, thanks to bomb finding out the hard way, I got his R6 throttle tube that didn't fit his earlier model bike... One of the top 5 mods in my book... vast improvement over stock, easy 10 min install, and cheap!
