With everything that's going on in the world today we should all take a minute to reflect on what July 4th is all about here in the USA. ....Hey I made a rhyme.
I live near Gettysburg PA and it's the 150th anniversary of the battles at Gettysburg (I know it has nothing to do with July 4th) But it's a big deal here. Anyway, I passed by some civil war reenactors marching on Gettysburg by foot all way from Virgina. They looked ragged and tired but they only had about 15miles more to walk. They reenacted Pickett's Charge today. It is the single battle in US history that defined the county we lived in today. General Pickett believed he could throw everything the South had at the Union and win. The Union held the line at Little Round Top. Pickett lost the battle and the Confederate was forced to retreat. It is believed this was the turning point in the war.
Over 10,000 registered reenactors attended. Over 5 million visitors are expected to visit Gettysburg this week. If you don't know it's a very small town with only a couple 2 lane road leading in.
The 4th is Fireworks Day. Right?
Fire is cool.

Yea big sparklers and stuff. It's also the day us unwanted criminals, crazies, nuts, witches, and dissidents, declared independence from those funny talking pricks across the pond in the Kingdom of Great Britain. Funny thing is we still seem to be attached to them at the hip.

Mortal enemies for a while ( at war with twice IIRC, to best of allies)
