So I have been noticing recently that until the bike gets all warmed up...I swear I hear a ticking, or something like it. My neighbor noticed it too, so I feel like I am not crazy, but I can't really figure it out.
I checked the valves, and they are in the nice sweet spot. I checked for an exhaust leak, nothing. While I had the cover off, I did notice the cams could be slide side to side about 1-2mm...but I know others have the same issue to no negative effect. Is that all I am hearing?
Here is a video...bike is still a little warm though, so I didn't hear it much...but I swear...I SWEAR IT'S THERE. I might try another video later tonight after she is cold, and record it from my riding position...which is where I notice it the most.
Sounds a lot like an exhaust leak to me. How to the exhaust gaskets look?
They were replaced last year, bit I have taken it off since then. I can replace them again. Cheap enough.
You are being paranoid. Put in some earplugs, and ride. :thumb:

I'd recommend replacing them every time you remove the exhaust. It's a few bucks for some peace of mind.

Watch this area while you listen to video
EDIT: is that the cable end spinning around in there? At first it looked like something blowing around to the tune of the motor

I have a digital tach. That is just the tach port on the front of the motor, I removed the plug I had made when I took the valve cover off....I am just removing the port and making a cover for it.
I hear a touch of timing chain noise with the hereditary gs Camshaft end play tap, and you can hear some blow by hiss from the mechanical tach drive port.
