How do you Tell which fuel line goes to which connector as I'm pretty sure I got it right but the longer line does not go to the furthest connection which does not make sense to me
how 'I' do it .. is put a little bit of masking tape on one of them when taking them off .. so i remember .. tape was to the front bit ..
there a several places in last few months a hose diagram has been posted .. i'm sure it will pop up again ..

just off the bottom of fuel tank yeah?
i did have a little trouble once or twice ... had the hoses kinda sideways in where the go through a gap ... made one seem short...
the tank does have to be fairly low over the frame and in place to slide them back on... i normally find its easier to put the rearwards one on first ..
next time i need to lift the tank though i have new fuel line .. gonna make them just a few inches longer so its not such a crap fight!

Nothing except the on and res will be in reverse. Been there and done that. Ran out of fuel.
Just doinked with this very problem for a couple of hours today. Yes, the fiches have the reserve and on lines reversed. But even so, with the tanik petcock/filter oriented with the on/off valve facing outboard as shown in the fiche, you'll have to contend with crossed hoses in a very tight space. The fix is to remount the tank petcock/filter 180* so the on/off valve is facing inboard. Now you have both hoses parallel, one above the other. You'll have to use a very long screwdriver to turn off the fuel for tank removal, but it's doable. Definitely label them hoses, it's a hairball flipping from page to page in the manuals to try to find where they all go.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I got them on the right way ill just keep an eye on the fuel the next couple of days
I swear on the petcock under the tank there is an "R" on the reserve outlet and an "O" on the on outlet. then just get them correct at the frame petcock and your good to go.

Thanks for the link, Jack. Turns out I've been riding around with the RES and ON lines switched since I purchased the bike used two years ago. My poor wife has had to rescue me due to running clean out of fuel a couple times since then. Never thought to double-check the routing, even with fuel line and frame petcock replacement a few weeks ago.

Ive been switching between on and res while riding incase they are the wrong way around so far both keep the bike running. How many K's would i have to do to empty the fuel line incase it just fuel left in the line?
Im confused because normally i get 350k's to a tank so far im on 390k's.
Is there gauge in the tank that i can look at to see when RES should kick in?
If the bike does run out of fuel would the tank be completly empty or would there still be some fuel in there? I ask because i dont want to run out of fuel but i dont want to fill it up because that wont tell me if the lines are the wrong way around.

The tank will not be completely empty, so you can still go a few more kms like so:
- Switch to PRIme
- If the bike stops again, lean it to the left to get some more fuel to drain out of the tank. You can get a little extra by swaying the bike side-to-side a little, while leaning it to the left.
- Repeat Step 2 as needed.
So I rode about 17k's today in reserve and on still work too so maybe I have not hit reserve yet
The reserve should be about .925 US gallons or 3.5 L. So You could actually get a good number of km/mi out of reserve depending on your fuel economy. One thing I just did that makes diagnosing fuel stuff much easier is I switched from black fuel lines to semi-transparent yellow Tygon fuel lines. You can see and feel the fuel inside of the lines making it much easier to tell whats going on inside there. I picked up some at a shop that sells/repairs small engine stuff like lawnmowers and chainsaws for $1.50 a foot. It took about 10 minutes to install and saved me a lot of frustration as far as knowing what was happening in my fuel lines.
That's really cool. Tomorrow is my day off so I might just run the bike in the on position and see what happens its just weird that I've got 400k's so far the max I did was 350 one time and the bike still runs in both positions
400 Kilos = 250 miles. Mmmm, I regularly go 240 miles and put in about 4 gallons after hitting reserve, occasionally it goes 250-260 miles on the 4 gallons.

So the pipe at bottom right is the reserve following it to the tank. My bike is an 04. Is that correct?

"Bottom right" is a little ambiguous in the photo, but yes ... the hose from the front outlet tube under the tank (which should be the longer of the two) should connect to the rear-most inlet on the frame-mounted "fuel selector switch" (petcock with ON / RES / PRI settings).

It's kinda hard to tell so the line at the bottom is connected to my reserve on the tank and the one on the right is connect to on.

This petcock has got to be the most misunderstood part of this bike, I swear!
I think mine are the wrong way around then as the cable at the bottom of the petcock goes to the front part of the tank pet rock and the house on the right goes to the one at the back. Which is in the right when looking at the frame petcock
I have swapped them around ill go for a ride tomorrow to see what happens
On the tank petcock, there is an "R" on the 1990 model embossed in the body of the petcock, the long one RESERVE.
