Title: Tank decals
Post by: rrbarna on January 19, 2004, 04:12:37 PM
Hey guys, long time no see!

Well, I did it again.. I'm an idiot...

I cashed my GS riding in -8C at night on partially wet, and apparently icy roads.  The gentle deacceleration as I approached traffic lights was enough to lock up the rear wheel and send me to the pavement.  Damage is considerable but not too serious.  This sucks since I was planning to sell it before the next season so I can pick up my 929.

So, does suzuki sell tank decals for a 2001 GS 500?  If not, where can I get ones that look stock?

Thanks,

Barna

Sorry to hear about your spill; I hope only your pride was injured...

The decals sounds like a dealer-only item to me.  I've never seen graphics for a GS on any site, except for generic "SUZUKI" vinyl appliques in a variety of sizes and colors.

I recently repainted my '91 and when I went to the local dealer the parts-guy quietly suggested that I work out what I wanted and get them Laser-Cut. Most sign makers can Laser-Cut long-life vinyl stickering from an .eps file, and if you whack a layer of clear-coat over it'll last for ages.

Sure, you won't get factory stickering, but this way you can go custom really easily...

Raven,

How would one convert a file into .eps? I was wanting to get some decals for my helmet and whatnot, would be cool to have some custom stuff on it!

Photoshop and Illustrator are generally good, but expensive unless you happen to have copies lying around anyway. I'm having the same problem at the moment; several images that I want to use as bike/helmet decals but no s/ware for conversion.

I've been trawling around some of the Download.com type sites and haven't been able to find anything so far, but you could try calling your local Sign-maker and ask them what image formats they can take and see what they have to say.

I've got Photoshop 7 and would be more than happy to help out.  PM me if you need anything converted...
