Title: Bending brake pedal
Post by: jacob92icu on July 27, 2013, 06:30:05 PM
Hey guys,

I couldn't find much with a search, but I think I will try a blow torch to bend my brake pedal down. The story is, I got a new exhaust and now the brake pedal, where it used to sit with my GSXR pegs, is too low and touches the new exhaust pipe and wont compress the brakes at all.

Because of this I have to put it back to where it sits with the stock pegs, and this is way to uncomfortable for my foot. So, has any one tried to heat the pedal up and bend it in any way? If so, any suggestions on technique are welcomed. Thanks,

Jake

The travel is adjustable. I have mine high up so my foot fits underneath.

And you ride like that? Thats how mine is and its very uncomfortable, but I cant use my front brake right now, different story different time. I'm assuming you use mostly your front brake?

Ya I have adjusted it, but the sweet spot is right in between two notches.

Its completely moveable and adjustable within reason..

Why bend it?

There is not enough adjustment. There are two notches that I am trying to get right in the middle of, one is too far down, and the pedal will no longer compress cause it is hitting the exhaust pipe, the other is so high that I have to pick my foot up and use my toes to push down on the brake with my heel off of the GSXR peg.

a jardine RT1 from me. Nearly new can. Pipes brand new stainless steel.

You can adjust the position in small increments by removing the pin that holds the linkage to the rear master cylinder shaft then adjusting the 2 nuts on the shaft.

You can see here the pin removed. Now adjust the connector on the threaded shaft. This is how you get minor adjustments to  the brake pedal.

Here and prior post
Going on the ride tomorrow? Meeting at 11. You can take the return ferry anytime you want - if you have to get back early. Just tell her you are learning the island so you can take her on a ride next week.
Works for others!
