hello fellow GS owners , i appear to have a problem with the gear shifting... when i start the bike and i put the first gear it is really hard , same goes from putting in neutral...i have to put a lot of pressure on the shifter to change gear. Any ideas? considerato that the bike gas only 8000 km so i doubt there is a problem in the gearbox .
Does it only happen when you first start the bike or does it get easier when the bike gets up to operating temp?
it gets kind of easier though it is still rougher than it should . Could it be that i have to check the clutch cables band adjust?
Did it get serviced, oil change etc when it should have, about 6000km?
Could be clutch cable , could be old oil, could be wrong oil, could be low oil :dunno_black:
Without sending this into an oil argument. A few of us have notices that the oil you use can make a bit of a difference when shifting. Change to another quality oil brand and see how you go.

Sounds normal to me. If the bike is cold the oil will be too so shifting will be a lil harder. Try rolling the bike forward a smidge if you find you are having trouble going into 1st. It should click straight in.
than you for all the advice! i managed to fix the problem . it was a combination of bad clutch lever positioning (way too much loose so it wouldn't work well) and a cold bike with of course cold oil.the only thing now is the front brake lever thats kinda rough and forks that are pretty soft . i love this bike!
Be sure to give your GS a good 3 point complete clutch adjustment at least once, the pushrod free play is important and was off on both my GSs one of which was bought new.

Brake lever kinda rough? Just soak pivot area with WD-40 and it will be good to go for another year or two. common complaint.
Soft forks? Aftermarket springs are the common fix, search for info many have done it including myself.

The 3 point clutch adjust is always your first move. After that try this...take your bike out for a long enough ride to get the oil totally up to temp then take all of the slack out of the clutch cable (@ lever), now Ny-Ty the clutch lever back against the grip overnite :thumb:
