Title: Looking for Goat's
Post by: Erika on July 29, 2013, 10:04:46 PM
Now I'm paranoid after looking at all the Goat's pics on this site. I noticed both sides of the bike have scuffs on the engine from the PO, which indicates it's been dropped a couple of times. I'm taking my left side cover off to replace a leaky gasket and thought I'd check for any evidence of Goat's while I'm in there. Is there anything I should look for that would be a clue that it's in the early stages? (I would normally shrug and ignore)

Look at the magnets for broken pieces and scuffing on the magnets and the stator.

Here are some pics of what I've found. Other than epoxy on the ends coming off (which seems to be common with the other goats threads), everything seems to look ok on the surfaces. On one of the coil ends on the stator, some of the plastic bits on the end is off, which I found at the bottom of the case. But the surfaces look smooth and nothing seems charred or black. Nothing seems loose either. I checked the rotor bolt, and it is still tight. Nothing wobbles. What do you think? I had to put it back together because I need it this weekend and can't afford a new stator/rotor yet. Do you think I have some time before it fails?

That's what I thought. Just paranoid. Well... at least my oil leak is fixed.
