What year did Suzuki change the style/assembly of the brake levers? I bought one (non- OEM) for my '97 Gs500e and I don't think the one I was sent fits my Gs500
Brake levers for all years fit exactly the same.
Earlier years had an adjustable brake lever, later years a fixed one. They fit the same and are interchangeable.
Parts fiches show the 89-96 are non-adjustable with same part number and all 97-09 are adjustable but there are 3 different part numbers for the adjustable ones: for 97-00, 01-02, and 04-09. Can't say how interchangeable they are some are listed for lever only and some for assemblies. Both my 97 and 02 came with adjustable levers.
I have an adjustable one on my 1994 (both replacements). Got a NOS non adjustable for the 89.

I spent some time yesterday checking parts fiches to confirm the info in my initial post above only because I wasted a lot of time checking it out a few years ago and never did resolve it to my satisfaction.
I needed to replace a broken brake lever back then on my 02 GS and wanted to buy a Motion Pro one at half the price of an oem one but they didn't list one for my 02 GS at that time. Members here had reported that a certain SV650 lever would fit the GS so I bought one It fit on OK and actuated the brake OK but the stoplight switch did not shut off when the lever was released, I had to push the lever forward to shut off the light. I finally managed to assemble the lever part of the Motion Pro on the pivot part of my old lever and got it working. That's why I said above "can't say how interchangeable they are" about the 3 different GS adjustable brake lever listings.

The $77 brake lever on the 2009 US model GS500F looks adjustable to me:

Parts pictures are not always correct on those sites.
I bought a NEW 2009. Not adjustable. Dealer could not locate an adjustable for the bike (they were idiots).
It doesn;t make any difference what parts lists show or not, all brake levers fit thh same on a GS500.
Many bikes use the same brake lever, including many Kawasaki's and Honda (I've put the same lever on some of these bikes).
FYI: (I know some Honda's should go on this list)

So if I ordered a 09 brake lever from Ron Ayers I'd get a non-adjustable one for $70 and if I ordered a 95 lever from them I'd also get a non-adjustable lever for only $22 that would also fit. Well the adjustable Motion Pro one for 90-2000 GS for only $22 should fit and would certainly be the best buy if I ever need another for my 02.
A Google for the lever 57420-0AE00 which appears looking like an adjustable one on US dealer fiches looks like this on UK/EU fiches:
Not much of a bargain for about $70.
I'm just reporting what is noticed on what levers were originally sold.
What you buy - you have to look at the picture of what they're selling.
Frankly, for a stock adjustable lever buy one from MotionPro. $21.72 as of today

Clutch lever $10.49

Was revising my previous post after further search while you were posting see Edit'
This is the brake lever I bought.. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to fit it tomorrow

I took the clutch off, unfortunately the bolt/nut threads stripped (think place that installed last lever overtight nut & stripped), so had to cut it off.. now need new nut/bolt... are they unique ??
Here's a pic, it looks like they may have filed down my safety switch to fit the new lever on too (could be wrong)

That list in the post above, will the Bandit 600s clutch lever slot right into a GS500 perch/safety switch ?
Thanks, :)
Just to add to the data set, I have a 98 (US model) with stock levers and the brake lever has the 4-way adjustable rotary dial.
