Title: rusty swingarm
Post by: ghostbiker on August 01, 2013, 04:05:24 PM
Seems hangers and swing arm suffer badly from corrosion on these bikes.
2004 GS500f
Not seen one yet without a rusted swing arm.
Well my friends one is tatty looking and really let's down the bike.
Rather than take bike off road to get it powder coated we are looking at getting a 2nd hand arm, getting that powder coated then just swapping them over to save down time.

Not many cheap ones on eBay for a 2004 F but was there much in the way of changes over the years?  Color matters not but I assume the unfaired GS has the same arm. What other years match as well though?

I have an extra swing arm here that is rust free. Down south where we do not get snow ice and do not throw out sand and salt, we dont get rusty things down here

I know adidasguy has at least 3 swing arms, probably more. I'm sure at least one needs a new home.

All years should be compatible as far as I know. '89 - '09

I'm very interested if anyone has one there selling, I didn't think to ask that doh
If its in good cosmetic then it needs to be black. If its a bit tatty then any color is fine as it will get coated.
I'm in Somerset , Burnham on sea. So can pick up if not to far or maybe posting can be sorted if to far.
