hello everyone ,i had a strange problem yesterday: i was riding back home and at some point my GS started dying like if there was no fuel, it did eventually so i put it to reserve gas thingy....when i Turned the key though nothing happend..the battery seemed dead all of a sudden.i've been riding for three days and The battery has been fine on every start...this morning i put gas and i make it start with the clutch method and the motorcylce is going really bad, lots of dead spots when i accellerate even in neutral, like if it wants to die on me again. all this started yesterday when it died. any idea?
First thing is to check your battery. Unlike a car, a motorcycle needs a good battery to run, not just to start. If your battery is dead or low, now you need to find out why. Use the search function to find suggestions on testing your charging system. I found a lot of good info to fix my system a few years ago.
It is possible the voltage regulator went out. Jump start the bike and then see what voltage you get at the battery.
Other possibility is your battery had a heart attack and suffered a sudden death.
Oh, then it could simply be bad connections to/from the regulator and/or battery.
Or a wire to/from the regulator could have broken.
With no regulator or broken wire, you will run off of the battery until the battery dies. Been there (connection from regulator not done when a battery was swapped). Running of of a battery that's going low feels exactly like running out of gas. As I said - I have been there and experienced it. (I popped in a spare battery and made sure the regulator was connected. I was pissed at myself but grateful a neighbor brought me the spare battery.)
fould up crap-trap?
