Title: Trying to bleed front brakes but lever remains soft after pumping?
Post by: chsonnu on August 06, 2013, 11:02:03 AM
With the bleed valve tightened, I'm pumping the lever but no resistance is building up.  I've done this before and after 2-3 pumps it was ready to be bled.  The only weird thing about this bike was that the master cylinder was hanging off the handlebars upside down for a couple of weeks.  Any ideas?

Fixed.  I had to refill the reservoir 3 times before resistance started building in the system.

I had to fight mine to build pressure as well, nearly gave up and swapped calipers haha. Glad ya got it!

Took forever to do my front also but I used a wrench and tapped on the caliper, hose and by the bars to get the rest of the air out

I like to stick a piece of hose on the bleeder and put the other end in a glass. Flushed the 89 out this way and ran a whole can of brake fluid through both front and rear combined. Another way is to pump a couple of times and loosen the bleeder and quickly tighten it back up. If that doesn't get some pressure make sure your floating pins on the front are not sticking.
