Title: after market question
Post by: Puunjob on January 21, 2004, 12:28:18 PM
I recently purchased a used clutch assembly with kevlar plates off this site.  I origionally tried to just swap out the plates and when I did the clutch body was not able to get tight enought to prevent the insides from spinning (this prevented me from tightening the spring screws ) So I replaced the entire clutch assembly and now it seemd to work (I fit it loosely I'm waiting on a new lock washer before I can really put it back together) Also on the assembly I recieved the springs were longer than my stock springs can anyone think of why this would be?  OH and btw does any one know the foot pounds for the sping bolts my I looked in the manual and it didn't list it.

Clymer says 3-to-5 foot pounds.

Some aftermarket clutch kits come with new spec springs.  Longer springs can provide a lighter clutch pull with equal holding power or in this case perhaps compensate for a thinner clutch pack.
