Title: Keepin it cool
Post by: lando7072012 on August 27, 2013, 07:30:01 PM
Hay guys I have been doing a lot of riding the last few weeks and I have noticed a gradual increase in engine temp after my rides. I have checked the oil level and changed the oil. I'm going on a road trip here soon and don't want to worry about overheating the bike. I have seen a few pictures with larger oil coolers and want to know what you all had to say. any recommendations? let me know thanks!!

Year of your bike would help, and a more detailed description of the overheating. How do you know it's over heating? Could be a different problem all together.

The bike is an 06 gs 500f. i ride to and from work every day about 4 or 5 miles and the bike does fine. on the weekends i go on longer rides maybe 100 miles or so. i guess my real issue is that i switched over to full synthetic oil and that's when i noticed the temp getting higher, i am looking for ways to cool the bike better than just the stock oil cooler.

As asked before,  how do you know it is running more hot. What does the temp gauge on it read?

Unless you are sitting in an epic traffic jam for a long, long time, the stock oil cooler is plenty. And even then I question if a larger oil cooler would help all that much.
