At the shop, im a watch guy, i repair and rebuild watches. also im the go to guy on computers. most of the computers belonged to ppl who had no business owning one. aka 15 toolbars. I end up recovering them orreinstalling windows. Not worth the time to remove cr*p. tired of that sh*t. :technical: :mad:. i repaitr an EEE mini ( netbook) soldered a power jack on it. its running great. its stablemate which i had performed a reinstall on, WAS running great, i come in after doing some outside work on the marquee,
I find it blackscreened. ¿wtf?, i restart. its not seeing its HDD. at all. i tear it apart, remove HDD, reinstall. and pwoer up. same thing. Great. got to find a lappy HDD. or an external i can cannibalise IF the drive is SATA. or just break out the hammer :technical: :technical: :technical:
Why do courts still have "sketch artists"?
Haven't we progressed beyond the days of bright flash photography (which I imagine is the reason).

We have moved offices 3 times in the last month and a bit following earthquakes and inspections.. useless people didnt help with moving gear out of the old office building, and expect it to magically teleport to the new offices somehow...

Week 5 - no Domain Controller, no printers, no landlines (VOIP), WAN access via Aussieland over 3G wifi.
Week 6 - no Domain Controller, no printers, no landlines (VOIP), WAN access via Aussieland over 3G wifi VDSL.
Week 7 - Fritzy Domain Controller, finally get local printers, still no landlines (VOIP), WAN access slow but not too bad...
And our corporate overlords wonder why productivity is down this month...
Oh well, can't complain - I rescued the coffee machine, so thats improved morale and productivity. More importantly, I don't have to walk 1km to get to my bike park... Trying to get a systems and control paper finished this semester and its been rather busy...

hey yama, any chance you have a factory reset disk for my hp presario cq56 laptop? i want to start fresh because i downloaded a bad music program, then a friend tried fixing it and never finished. i tried doing a reset from a save point and its not far enough back to fix my computer
and now my rant, here in Rochester, NY there is big news about a 5 month "pregnant" african american woman being taken down by an officer. a neighbor had called the cops because some family members were fighting in the street, when the officers were trying to subdue a gentleman the "pregnant" woman tried intervening. she pulled a can of pepper spray on them and when he restrained her you can see that she keeps reaching for the officers belt and he clearly tells her to stop. so as a tactical move he gave her a open handed smack on the back of the head to change her focus because she was resisting arrest and took her to the ground. if she was pregnant she should be more concerned about the welfare of the child in her stomach rather than fighting with the police, she continued to scream and act like a fool. now you can call a racist card all you want but a large percentage of crimes in rochester are in the black community, there are constant shooting and stabbings.
I really get pissered off when people pull the race card.

kk was afraid of that. which version of 7 ( im assuming) is it?, you CAN download an iso of 7, and put that in, and use the key from computer. ( it IS legit) that is an option to consider
i might have to bite the bullet and buy the disk. a friend of mine tried messing with it and downloading a different disk on to my computer. then it asked for what model in specific. the cq56 has 2 series and like 8 versions in each series. now he lives in south carolina along with the disk, i did find out what model it was though!

-i dont even want to get started on people texting and driving or just blatantly pulling out in front of motorcycles. in rochester it seems never ending, these jackass's have their own rules for the road.
-my work is a block or two from the scrap yard so i do get a kick out of the things i see people putting in or on there vehicles, scrappers will load those cars full just to get that little bit of money, because you have to remember. all of that driving around they do costs money, so finally they get a car full of scrap metal, take it to the yard and make very little on it.
-i work for a siding company so on resides we usually have old aluminum that we take off of houses; fascia and what not. so anyways, one day we were finishing up a reside, yanking gutters and putting new fascia on the house and had a nice sized pile of aluminum. a scrapper pulls up and asks for the metal and i simply tell him no and he drives off. towards the end of the day my foreman starts getting a little dickish because there is alot to do and not alot of time; of course this makes me a little heated. THEN a second scrapper decides to show up and i tell this guy no its ours, sort of with an attitude of course, and this guy decides to give me some lip. calls me an a$$hole and as he is driving away decides to yell "fluck you" .... so anyways the nerve of some people, i may be in the wrong but i dont think i should work my ass off to make a living and people have the nerve to come around asking for free hand outs so they can make money off of it and not work
What really pisses me off is when people at work get spyware/ransomware and somehow it's my fault. We try to make sure machines are protected but some users (owners, VP's) insist on having admin rights. I then get to spend time cleaning/fixing their shaZam! only to have them breathing down my neck to get it done. The zeroaccess rootkit is a particular favorite of mine.
It makes me want to punch a baby.
Makes me irate when a taxi or a hirecar swerves from the far right lane across two lanes into the bus lane with no indicator on, almost killing me and honking me for it.. and when people merge into you in the merging lane with no indicator on... and when people lean on your car or brush against it on their way past... bastards...

Drivers are the worst. I was riding by guy in a super jacked-up truck [just ridiculous] and due to traffic he's jockeying lanes and we keep overtaking each other. The thing that killed me is he's making these jerking maneuvers in a 2-story house without using his turn signals. And to top it of he's a pro-fisherman and has his name on the tailgate of his truck...:icon_twisted: I wanted to send him a letter telling him to use his @#!*$& turn signals or to publicly shame him with a website or something, but I forgot his name within a couple of blocks. But the lack of appropriate turn signal usage is really infuriating to me.
The other thing that I've been noticing A LOT lately is people with burned out tail lights. And since I'm on the bike I want to get out or ride next to them at stoplights and tell them because that stuff can get dangerous. Everyday I spot at least one burned out tail light.
The other thing that kills me is people that let two or three car lengths build up in front of them before they even take their foot off the brake, and then I see them waving their free hand around because they need to express themselves while they talk on their phone or to their passenger.

You had to work hard to find the 800 order number. It is no where in the program or the manual.
The program has all the stuff and even a chapter on how to get support/help but you find it too hard to click on that button with the spanish guys name "Manual".
Then the program has a big HELP button that gives you:

3. Link to web support forums
4. Link to on-line chat.
Why the fruck do I have to give you letter by letter our web site? Use the links. And where ever you found the 800 number, right next to it would be the support number AND out web address.
AND your simple question is in the manual, the FAQ and been answered many times on the web site. READ something - oh, you're an American and have been taught to never read or take responsibility for anything so you have to call someone and have them walk you through how to wipe your ass. People have no clue how to search a manual or FAQ but still they can find the most obscure porn of a monkey and a cat in Bora Bora on the internet.

On that topic, I just tried windows 8 a week ago on my brother's computer. it's so incredibly f***ed i'm seriously considering buying a mac. Always been a PC user and always thought i'd stay that way but goddamn is windows 8 infuriating. Can't do anything without applying updates everytime you use the bloody thing and it couldn't be more counter intuitive. For shame.
regarding windows 8, ill wait until the 7 update comes. to make it 7 like. my main gripe, is in 7 ( any one) I shut down our shops computers, with 3 keystrokes. taking 2 seconds at most to shut down. ( windows key, right arrow, enter = done. once update for 8 is out, ill upgrade when I can afford a decent pc. until then ill use 7 or build a mac. ( both on same machine aka dual boot. )

Ah yes - Windows 8.. I have suffered at the hands of the "Desktop build". Metro is ok on a tablet or touch enabled device but I am glad M$ finally figured out that the rest of us don't want a touch UI on a non touch enabled device.
StarDock must have made a small fortune giving everyone back the start button - but its a pretty dodge fix. I have rolled back to Windows 7 and life is much better.
Am strongly looking into the latest Linux builds (or at least dual boot) now that Steam is offering a dedicated OS for games - I have more than one PC, so I guess one machine can join the Linux flock to see how it fares compared to Windows.
My rant for the day.. I have to cordinate the move of the lemmings here at work.. like herding cats.. crazy how you have to hold the hands of fully grown adults who get all whiny about emptying their sets of drawers and desks so professional movers can move it.. next time I may not even organise movers :icon_mrgreen:

just want to give a big f*** you to my boss, seriously the micromanaging needs to stop. I have worked for you for 3 friggin years on the same low paying bs minimum wage with no tips, and i am pretty sure i know what im supposed to f***ing do. There is a reason why ex employees would drink on the job, and now i started doing this as well at least once a week. Its the only way to put up with your repetitive nagging and cheap a$$ greasy business ethics. You call yourself a manager? You sir cant even manage your way out of a cardboard box. I cant wait for the day i finish up my college classes and get a better job so i can tell you to go f*** yourself once and for all.

Who the F#$! decides to bury reverse torx head bolts to hold an igntion on.. one that you can only get to after stripping a heap off the bike.. which can be more quickly hotwired..
Seriously - is the head an E4 reverse torx? or is it something imperial? I have tried a hex drive in 4.0mm and 4.5mm and it is somewhere very close to 4.25 (think it has the reverse torx shoulder) - am going to have to invest in a better set tomorrow (or drill the old ones out in a fit of rage).. :mad:

So I'm the guy that's supposed to stop people from stealing stuff from the store I work at.
I'm not allowed to touch people. I'm not allowed to threaten people.
I can bar people from the store, but need to verify ID that time and also when/if they come back to get them on trespassing. They have to give me their information/ID.
I can issue a civil demand for restitution, but first they need to give me their ID so I can get their name and address, and have them sign a statement admitting to stealing the items.
I can have the cops come and get them, but the cops have a response time of 10m-45m, usually later in that window, and sometimes they don't show up at all.
I'm glad there are people too stupid to follow the 'Don't say anything' rule, or I'd be out of a job :dunno_black:
But it still really pisses me off that I can't really do anything about the rest of them. I work in a drug store in WV and the meth heads are ****ing terrible.
The only thing I can really do is once they touch me in a manner of "aggression" or whatever, I'm allowed to issue physical restraint. *wink*
