Title: Frame Petcock O-Rings
Post by: JAS6377 on August 30, 2013, 02:49:04 PM
I found out why my reserve connector (not actually prime. Oh well.) kept popping off. I was syncing my carbs today, so I had to pull off my zip ties. This, of course, made the connector fall out. I found a piece of a flat o-ring that has been eaten. I'm assuming the other parts are scattered along 283...

Anyway, does anyone know where I can find these flat o-rings? Standard sizes won't fit into the petcock. And while I'm at it, does anyone know where I can find a petcock rebuild kit?

Thanks!

Can't buy parts for it and there is no rebuild kit. They are replaceable as a unit

Awesome... Looks like I'm in for a new petcock. Off to For Sale/Wanted!

Thanks, weedahoe.

take your petcock to napa. they have all different kinds of o-rings that can handle fuel and they'll be able to find one for you. that's what i did for mine.

Okay. I said "screw it" and got some marine grade JB Weld. It's chemical/petroleum resistant. That connector is stuck now.

And I'm friggin' done with those darned stainless steel fuel lines. They're just a pain in my behind to deal with all the time. So, anyone reading this, save the money and just replace your fuel lines every 4 years with the rubber ones. It'll save you headaches and money.
