Title: PLEASE HELP!!!
Post by: JustinLeeWilson32 on August 31, 2013, 08:27:32 PM
So.... A while ago, I was riding my 1992 gs500, all of the sudden it's starts smoking, popping, hesitating, and just running funny. I originally thought it was a fuel issue so I got it home, checked my carbs and cleaned them and adjusted them and no luck. M buddy came over, noticed dark black oil coming out of my exhaust .... SO we assumed blown rings, right? Well maybe not. I've replaced the pistons, rings, pins, circlips, gaskets, had the cylinders bored at a local reputable bike shop to match the new pistons. I finally got itall put back together, checked piston clocking, timing perfect, plenty of oil, but now it's smoking still. Isn't spitting oil, but the longer it runs, the more it smokes, it's a whiteish blueish smoke and the more it runs and the more I rev it, the thicker it gets. I'm lost. I have no idea what it could be. My buddy who is a certified motorcycle tech at a local Yamaha shop can't figure it out either. But he's not a gs guy, nor a Suzuki guy. Please please please any advice would be absolutely amazing. This nightmare needs to be over. Thanks gs dudes.

Only other place for oil to get in there and burn is through the valve stems. Perhaps a bent valve? Bad valve stem seals? Was the head checked out when the pistons were worked on?

I didn't do anything with the heads. I'm a novice still at this stuff. I am learning as i go along. I havent messed with the valves or anything. we thought for sure it was going to be the rings. my only problem is that ive invested so much money and time into this thing already, i dont know if its worth it to keep replacing parts... i wish i could just find an easy inexpensive way to find out what the heck is going on.
