Ok I took my gs500 to my local shop to have my front tire replaced. And bout 30 minutes into waiting on it the service guy comes out and tells me that on my rear axle one tensioner bolt is way longer than the other. Like looking at the rear of the bike the right side is sticking out like 2 1/2 inches while on ghe left side ( chian side ) the bolt is only out like a inch or so. But they said the rear tire is not tracking bad. What could cause such a big difference in the length of those bolts. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
If the wheel is correctly aligned the shorter adjuster must have been cut down or has broken off........no other answer :dunno_black:
Can I ask why they were trying to adjust your chain when you wre getting a front tyre replaced?

Think it might be one of those rare things.... A mechanic that mentions other problems cos he has a keen eye .... More of a heads up kinda thing!? ... To let the owner know there is an issue somewhere or make sure they know about it!! .... It happens!! :thumb:
Yeah mine's the same, on an 89 GS500E. My right tensioner is like an inch or two further extended than the left one, but the wheel is perfectly aligned.
As long as the wheel is properly aligned then it's nothing to worry about :)
Good to see mechanics that care! The only shop I take my bike to does stuff like that. They lube and adjust your chain with any service they do
Thanks for all the advice guys . really helped . i think i will take it somewhere eles. ;-)
