Title: My disappointing ride(Chain Replacement Time-Where to get)
Post by: alexanderjennings on September 14, 2013, 12:39:03 AM
Hey all,

Went for a nice ride this arvo up Mt Mee followed by rides up the sunny coast hinterlands. about half way through the ride my chain started slapping against the swing arm! I pulled over and tensioned the chain up-very odd as I had only retentioned it a few days prior. but being new to the riding scene i assumed i left a bolt loose causing the chain to slip. Anyway. Myself and a mate got her all back to where she was and set off again. the bike didn't feel right, I heard a knocking noise 20 or so KM up the road so again pulled over the discover the chain was SO tight. went about doing the same thing mentioned perviously. and set off. well after stopping and readjusting one more time i knew something was FU&KED. So i crawled my way back to north lakes and to my mates house(dirt bike boy-who is very knowledgable). turns out my chain is rooted. Sprockets are all good.

My question- What size chain do I need. I'm going to be selling the bike in the next 2 months-im after a middle of the range chain, where is the best place in Brisbane-or online that i can get a chain for a decent cost. AND how long should a chain last providing you look after it.

Cheers
Alex :embarassed:

My first chain I got 23 thou out of it - only lubed with WD40. My second chain now has about 40 thou on it - lubed with Belray Super Clean
