I found that, too, when I was missing that piece from a 2001 frame. The 89-00 piece doesn't fit.
They moved the front, center bolts to the left side so those bolts can also hold the oil cooler bracket.
You can get that  piece on fleaghey for about $20. Be sure it is 01-09 or 04-09 range. They will be black. Silver would ve older unless someone painted it.
I see Pinwall is loaded with them. I buy a lot from them.

maybe tomorrow or monday will be able to try and start it. then once everything is working and running perfect, will take some of it back apart and have it powered coated and the plastics painted. frame is near perfect little blem on right side so will just fix that. top triple, lower forks, rear swing arm will be powder coated.

That 89 removable engine cradle is different from the other years.
Did it change from say 00 to 01 ? Or 02 - 04 ...

AFAIK, 89 - 90 was a change, 90-09 is all same.
Cool.

If you mean the part of the frame that removes to get the engine out, it changed in 2001 with the new rear end.
Otherwise frames are the same. Motor mounts the same in all years. In fact I use the older side stand on newer frames because I don't like the bike leaning so much. I suppose they went to a shorter side stand with the fairing so less chance for the wind to blow it over. Otherwise I have no idea.

Leaking petcock: probably the o-ring is dry and cracked. Should be an easy fix.

On the petcock, I just went to the local bike shop and asked if they had any gas resistant O-rings. Took the stock one with me for sizing, and problem solved!

You see that gas leak has dulled the black color ... the stupid Idiots painted the freaking frame with watercolor on the newer ones too.
Atleast the silver, it was less visible when you spilled on it.
Cool.

Nope just going to go white on all plastics, redo the frame that got messed up by the gas spill. Rear swing arm, triple, and anything else thats metal will be powder coated black. I got to ride it for about 20 miles or so. Just bought a enigine and some other parts in a lot so going to be selling them when i get the parts i want off it.
