Title: Fuel hose routing?
Post by: 007brendan on September 21, 2013, 05:35:50 PM
I just replaced most of the hoses on by bike, including fuel lines.  But I think I might have switched the two lines coming from the fuel tank to the carbs.

In the clymer manual, I'm pretty sure the tank petcock is facing the opposite direction from what it is on my bike.

Does the long spigot on the tank petcock attach to the front or bottom of the frame petcock.

Long spout on tank goes to front facing spout on frame.  Short spout on tank goes to bottom on frame.

Also look closely at the tank petcock and frame petcock. They really are labeled!
Tank has "O" and "R"
Frame petcock should have same labels.
If even you forget, just look at the little letters next to each hose nipple.

If GSjacks diagrams are right, then I told you backwards.  I can't remember if the long spout is toward the front of back on the bike.  I will say this, the more frontward spout is marked R at the base of the petcock, and goes to the bottom spout on the frame.  The other spout on the tank is marked O, and goes to the front facing spout on the frame (like adidas said before).  I've never noticed the markings on the frame petcock before, I'll have to look more closely next time.

It also depends on what year GS you have apparently.  Mine is a 97.
