Title: interesting discovery on my GS
Post by: nico on September 21, 2013, 09:43:54 PM
Took off the sprocket cover to clean it out and found the sprocket sitting on the spline with no circlip. :icon_eek: I've ridden this bike 1400 miles and who knows how long it's been missing it.

Pulled sprocket off, splines were great. Cleaned, reinstalled with an $0.80 circlip from Home Depot.

:woohoo:

I will be replacing the sprocket, chain and rear gear in the spring.

That would have been scary to find! Could have flown off and caused all sorts of carnage..

It was strange...I pulled the cover off, looked at the gear and wanted to pull it off. Went to grab it and it moved! Looked in the Clymer and thought "Holy $#!+..."

Attached is a picture.  I found silicone on a fitting close to the top of the case... :icon_confused:
