Ok, so winter is coming and with it is a close to riding season, but we all know we're gonna stretch it as long as we can and there will be those days where you just gotta get out.
I noticed the thread about getting the hand covers, and that's a great idea if you're planning to be out in the cold, but if you don't have those and find yourself in a situation where your current gloves just aren't cutting it try this:
Wear a pair of latex/nitrile gloves under your riding gloves.
They might make your hands sweat since they don't breathe, but they keep the wind out, keep cold water out if you're in the rain, and add just one more layer of insulation.
When I picked up my bike, it was a cold night of 33°F and I rode it for an hour and a half straight on the expressway at 60+MPH.
I dressed in layers on every part of my body, and I wore Neoprene gloves on top of polypropylene liners on top of latex gloves.
Everything worked pretty well at keeping me from freezing, but I still had cold feet, legs, arms, and face. Of all things my hands stayed tolerable.
I keep a few pairs of nitrile gloves in my bike-bag next to my bungee cords and insurance documentation, just in case I'm somewhere and the temperature at night is a little cold or in case I get caught in the rain.
Give it a shot! It could save your digits, frostbite is nothing to take lightly.

also useful when you encounter a multiple vehicle accident and have to patch people up, keeps the blood borne pathogens off ya.
But really, I probably haven't contracted some blood borne illness because of that exact concept.
If it ever gets cold here in fl again I'll give it a shot! :thumb: :thumb:

I think the real problem here is it's not clear how he can safely control his motorcycle like that.
no no no... thats for the rest stops!... to warm the hands... or as Erika mentioned ... a chest warmer... (I feel slightly dizzy)
.. however ... taking the pictured handwarmer along with you on the ride as pillion ... could also potentilaly cause distraction and issues controlling the bike...

haha the initial shock is the bad part. its kind of like going outside and jumping in the snow face first with your little buddy hanging out. and the shrinkage will likely cause embarassment :dunno_white:
