Guys, I removed my air filter today to inspect/clean and I get a fuel smell from it, is this normal? It's also discoloured towards the top but looks clean near the bottom, is this also normal? Stock Suzuki Filter 13780-05A00
Should I clean this and reuse, or replace?

The stock paper filters aren't meant to be cleaned and reused.
It's normal for there to be a gasoline smell in the airbox. If it is too strong (or there is liquid gasoline inside), then you have a problem.
It was just a minor fuel smell, went and bought a new filter, it cost $48 :-S not cheap for a paper air filter, oh well.

For $48 sounds like u bought the genuine article.I will probably do the same but until then i'm curious how the cheaper others(Hi-flo,Uni-air,Emgo,etc) compare with their air flow....NOT K&N cos with my Yoshi i believe carbs need rejetting.

good excuse for a rejet my friend :). my first gs I bought after I got her running in 03, was to punch the stock can, then drop in a k&n lunchbox. amazing is all I can say lol.

From what I've read, the Hi-Flo does not need a rejet, but it does have a noticeable lag/drop in power around the 5K -6K rpm range, and I saw a dyno sheet of someone's GS500 showing it, not sure if others have had the problem or not but I figured the stock has been working well so I just stayed with that.
Forget rejet and all that other stuff until you know if you even have a problem. Maybe all you have is blow off from the valve breather cover. Maybe one carb is overflowing. You can tell that if you look in and see gas in the air box and coming out of a carb.
Doing massive work to fix something simple will most certainly mess things up worse - especially because you do not know what the problem is or even determined if it is a problem.
A little gas smell is probably nothing. Some vapors from the carbs can cause that.
Some brown on the air filter can be oil blow off from the valve breather cover.
