So, I just found out that one of my fog light bulbs blew out on my '05 Stratus. I currently have the 3" Hella Optilux Angel Eye fogs, and I like the way they look. They're pretty beat up after 4 years, though. One of them has a massive crack in the lens. To replace the bulbs, I'll need to pull the bumper off, so I figure why not just get new ones anyway? Herein lies my predicament. Shall I go OEM, which can be maintained without pulling the bumper (i.e. replacing bulbs 4 years down the road again), or should I get angel eye projectors to match my headlights? Either set will cost me about $50, and I already have a 2-stage switch with a relay set up for my current fog/halo combo. What do you guys think?
Here are my current halos:

(By the way, my car forum kind of bit the dust, otherwise I would have posted there... That, and I like you guys more :kiss3: )
Meh id just keep as is. not go back to OEM. these things blind the hell out of me when not adjusted properly lol. but I do like the look of em.
I get this all the time on other boards and the thing to most importantly remember is those ebay kits with halos and projectors are made for halogen bulbs. No HIDs. BIG difference on light output so keep that in mind

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't be going HID with the fog lights. I don't feel like dealing with another set of ballasts. I already have 6000ks up top in HID projector housings.
And yama, these are also legitimate fog lights, so they're functional. And bright. Which is why I was considering projectors, because I can aim them lower so I don't blind people.

Im definitely cool with them if installed right. im sure you will.
I like the way it looks in the pic.
Alrighty. The fog lights are ordered. I got these ones: http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=261293759337
They should be here by the 23rd. Does anyone have any experience with those stupid plastic rivets that Dodge loves so much? I hate those things...
Looking at you, weedahoe.
They're heeeere! I'll be popping the bumper off later today and wiring them up.

take your time my friend, do it properly. and dont do like ive done in the past, and half-a$$ it. half-a$$hattery, i think has caused me a scooter engine lol. oh and aim properly too. takes a bit longer, BUT youll be more than pleased with the results. OH and post pics too :)
Will do. I half-a$$ed quite a few of my mods in the past, and I ended up redoing them. I had to rewire my entire battery system because I didn't take the time to do it right 2 years ago. I've learned that a proper job the first time is easier. And I'll definitely post pics once I'm done.
done that myself servicing a quad. developed a short. melted a few things. had i stepped out, it would have went up in flames. so i try not to do that anymore lol.
It's been a productive day. I changed the oil and front brakes on my dad's car, had a bangin' bowl of chili, and got my fog lights mounted. Due to rain, however, I'm not going to be wiring anything tonight. I work until 4 tomorrow evening, so it'll have to wait until then. I figure another 2 hours tops to wire and reinstall the bumper. They should be pretty well aimed as it is right now, so I'll just have to fine tune them.
I lied. It stopped raining, so I decided to get my butt wet and do some wiring under the bumper. Here they are!

The angel eyes are quite a bit brighter than my old ones. They outshine my headlight halos lol. The main fogs are bright as well, but they're aimed down at the road.

It's safe to say that I'm happy with this upgrade.
Oh man wonder if those would fit on an '08 Versa! Rocky needs fog lights and I've been casually looking but those are nice :thumb:
Mary
Yeah, I love them. I could leave them as is with the flood pattern, but if anyone here has gotten to know me at all, you'll know that I just can't leave well enough alone lol. I'm planning on making bulb shields out of a can so I can get a nice cutoff that doesn't blind people. As they are now, they're basically an extra set of high beams. I have about 2 hours before I have to go to class today, so we'll see how far I get lol.
Woohoo! Cutoffs are done and in the lights. There's not much room, so I had to put then on top, as opposed to the usual bottom, but they seem to work. We'll see later tonight.

Thanks! Here's the beam pattern with the cutoffs.
