Anyone ever tried flipping and flopping stock bars?
think i have seen mention of it in a thread or two ...
they smack into the front edge of tank IIRC .. ??
i got no prob with clubman bars ... but i think a bar change is best not done 'for free' .. there are certain design/practicality considerations to be ... errrr... considered! ;) :thumb:
I turned my bars a bit for a while to get a slightly more aggressive feel. I basically just loosened the bolts, turns the bars to the lock position, and turned them down as far as they would go with clearance for the tank. To be honest, though, new bars are worth it if you don't mind throwing a few bucks (quid??) at your bike.
I tried doing that a few different ways before I got new ones. It didn't really work well. First I tried just turning them slightly down to give it more of a low profile look, but all it did was make it less comfortable without doing much to the look. I then flipped them upside down for the clubman look (have to drill new holes for the switches to mount) and it was even less comfortable. The bars also hit the side of the tank, preventing it from locking. Because they were never meant to be pointed down, the center of the bars didn't allow for moving them in a comfortable position. Give it a try though and you'll see what I mean. It'll only take 30 min to remove the switches and throttle/loosen the bolts holding the bars. Maybe you'll think of something I didn't. I can almost guarantee you'll put them right back and spend the $20 getting a new set.

Yeah, I'll just buy some clubman...I wanted black anyway...
Clubmans are really low... Great in corners, but when I put the '04 tank on my '93, the different shape took away some real estate I needed for the boys lol. Ended up putting on drag bars. LOVED those clubmans on the '89-'00 tank though
