Title: air filter
Post by: kvgs on January 23, 2004, 10:40:41 PM
Ive seen people use two small K&N filters right on the carbs of a gs500. Does this work or help at all, if so can you just get rid of the entire stock filter and air box assembly, and how do you put the filters on the carbs.
thanks

i just got my k&n filter put on my bike...it was a little hard to put on....
it looks a lot better and now i have more room (not that i need it but it easyer to work on the bike this way)

well, it breathes a lot better....that's basicly the reason to buy a K&N...you can also get the 2 smaller, cone filters for about the same price....i paid 30 for http://www.usdieselparts.com and free shipping  :thumb:

The K&N (individual or single) REPLACES the stock air box assembly.  Clamps on the same way the stock box clamps on.

Yes, it does help airflow... so you should also rejet w/ this set up.... and maybe get a new exhaust, cause K&N plus stock pipe sound silly, IMHO.

GRU - put a filter on your cylinder head breather hose!   :nono:  ;)

The pod filters are much better than the stock airbox.  You can put one monopod on like GRU has or two small individual filters like I have.
I would recommend changing to an aftermarket exhaust though if you put on the pod filters.

Title: 35's...

35mm wont fit... hell it will get sucked into the carbs... we need 63mm... also these are crap... K&N or S&B filters are the only ones I have seen that are decent quality. S&B is sold by baker precision... though you may have to call them to get the right ones... their site doesn't have it displayed... I have some I paid $11 for ... love it. Lunch box pod of course Usdieselparts.com is the best price.
Cool.
