Hi all,
this is my first time posting on this form so I hope I'm putting this in the right place.
I am getting my GS500F re-jetted, and I was just wondering if it makes "that" much difference?
I have already put a muffler on (yoshi TRS) and the K&N Racing airfilter.
just hoping to hear from other GS500 owners and there experience with or on this?
Thanks
Jetting on any thing makes a huge difference.
If you bike is improperly jetted it will mean the difference between ~20 miles to the gallon, or a over heated head. We have to remember these bikes are air cooled so if the jetting is slightly off its taking miles off your motor. Also these bikes are 500cc so you need all the help you can get.
I had my old yamaha jettied wrong and i learned that yes it can make it easy to start, it can reduce gas mileage, or cause over heating. Both of which I experienced trying to sort out the jetting

Huge difference - you have lunch box K&N ? then you need 147.5 mains, 20 pilots 1-2 washers and 3 turns on mix screw - optional to do mids and I'll do 65 if you want to, and skip shimming the needles ...
That combo without mids $25 shipped in continental US, 30 world wide. Mids $8.
Cool.
