Title: Muffler/Exhaust shim for slip on
Post by: nicoyastyln on October 25, 2013, 08:25:12 AM
I recently purchased an aftermarket exhaust (only exhaust no pipe) off of ebay and have been trying to locate a shim to make it a tight fit on the GS500 exhaust pipe. can anyone give advise on what "possible" local stores (like Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, etc.) would possibly sell shims to accomplish a slip on install?

something that possibly looks like this:

Thanks everyone!

No idea what auto shops over there... But .. Try an actual exhaust shop and see if you can convince them to give you one of them thingies or whatever they use to do it .... ?

Take a piece of pipe - available @ muffler shop, and cut it.
Cool.

OR if close to exhaust shop, can can either ride bike straight piped over or can mock it up, and they can weld something on to make it fit. ( did that with my wedge can. )

Yeah, welding is the only way to go.  Should be relatively cheap and painless at a muffler shop.

When I did my custom exhaust, no local exhaust/muffler shop had dies small enough to handle the small exhaust pipe I was using. I ended up going to a hydraulic shop where they had small pipe, could bend it and had machines to expand the ends to make them slip on to other pieces as needed.
