I did some video today. The people are so anal that they have cameras and watch the alley! Amazing how fast they come out. I have 30 minutes of video of them saying that soft, crappy gravel is OK and that motorcyclists don't know how to ride.
Here is a clip I was playing with to try some production techniques. I think a full video in a John Stewart style of The Daily Show would really freak them out.
And what a prick - I tried to work an agreement with them to have them fix the problem and won't shake hands on a deal? That is SO unprofessional. But watching all the video, it is clear that testosterone does not rule that family. It is estrogen. And she wants to "quid pro quo"? WTF?
They know you filmed that?
Dude... Your neighbors... WTH? If it's compacted properly, a motorcycle shouldn't do anything. More to the point, neither will "being less revving".

very true lol.
Wait until they go on vacation. Call a "gypsy" driveway paving company. Have them put down 1/2" of the cheapest asphalt they can buy.
The money will be worth their shock and horror when they see it paved.
If this interests you, call around to a couple of the local asphalt plants and ask them if they know any gypsies that do driveways cheap. They are referred to as that in the business. Ask me how I know...

I'm working on the complete video. This was just a teaser.

Can you get me a video clip of someone riding that alley?, combine with benny hill theme maybe something else?

Did you know gravel placed by people is a myth? It's really the Rock Fairy. Every night the Rock Fairy pushes the gravel up out of the ground. It's true, ask my son where he finds all the cool rocks on the rock path at Nannie and Granddads house.
If you want to find the fairy who is responsible you need to find the Fairy Garden rock house.

BTW I have this sigh out on my road. OIL and GRAVEL...NO SHLIT!!! Spread that stuff all over the road why???? I don't know. 3 or 4 miles of this road has loose gravel...WTF. You can barely drive a car on it safely. Dipshit local township engineers and local-yocal road crews don't know their arsses from their elbows. THIS IS ON TOP OF A PAVED ROAD!!! It's like riding on marbles. Then those jack-wipes where out there with brooms and dustpans trying to sweep that gravel up because a few of us called the up and told then not to bring their kids trick-or-treating over here.

CTB stands for Concrete Treated Base. A barely wet mix of aggregate, water and cement. Spreads like dirt, is compactable and then hardens. Much better than plain old gravel. :thumb:

A council has been refusing to empty wheelie bins left on gravel driveways for health and safety reasons.
Bosses feared the small stones could become trapped in the wheels and cause them to topple over onto binmen.
West Wiltshire District Council said all wheelies would go uncollected if residents left them on any loose or stoney surface.
It meant some homeowners had to leave their bins blocking pavements, rather than placing them safely at the end of their gravel driveways.
A few months ago the same council refused to empty wheelie bins if its binmen could not pull them using just two fingers.
Mark Birkett, 38, said he left his bins at the end of his gravel driveway without incident for more than six years.
But earlier this month, the company director was told stones posed "health and safety implications" to binmen.
Despite leaving the majority of the plastic bins on the pavement, binmen refused to touch them as their rear wheels were on the gravel.
Father-of-two Mr Birkett, of Trowbridge, Wiltshire said: "Although my driveway is made of gravel, the stones are big and compact and it's not at all soft to walk on.
"When my bin was regularly missed, I complained to the binmen but they made a tremendous hullabaloo about their health and safety rules and refused to take it.
"It is stupid, petty and frustrating. It's another case of utterly bonkers rules prevailing over common sense."
His wife, Hannah, 34, said: "It's ridiculous because even my 13-year-old daughter can pull the bin all the way down our drive without falling over."
It is understood the policy was introduced across the county earlier this year, with waste contractor Fosca given strict instructions not to move bins on loose surfaces.
Following residents' complaints, however, West Wiltshire District Council said it would now collect bins from driveways containing loose stones – provided the wheels were left on the pavement.
A spokesman for the council's waste and recycling department said: "The officer spoke to the customers and suggested leaving each bin immediately adjacent to either ends of the wall.
"This would ensure that the bins were not placed on the gravel nor were blocking access to the pavement."
AYG
Ehhh...that sounds absurd and just plain bureaucratic.
FerFugsSake get a life, Addie! Did you ya real spend precious life time posting this mind numbing stuff on YT AND on GSF????? Ride the bike, play with it, spin the spanners, (hey! spin the wheels, too), luv yer neighbours, roottoodlyroot yer lady....whatever..but no more of these vids and boring gravel stuff, eh, promise????
I make no promises.
As with TV shows, if you don't like it, then don't watch it.
Put me on your ignore list so you don't see what I post.
You're totally missing the point of honing in my video editing skills for my next GS500 tutorial.
That dude is nuts. Is that part he is raking and blowing on his property? If not I'd spin that stuff all over the place every time I come up the ally. Or, pour some quickrete on it the next time it rains.
I also have nutty neighbor. Last snowstorm we had he was on the roof of his house in 6inches of snow with a chainsaw trying to cut a tree down. If I was a betting man I'd have put money on him either falling on the chainsaw or falling on the jagged pile of tree stumps. God really does protect the young and the stupid.
It is a public alley. NOT his private driveway.
I think the leaf blower on gravel in the rain is just too much to believe.

What did I just read.
Irony is ironic...
There's no problem. We ride in and out, just normal riding in and out of the dead end alley. Apply some rear brake and you lock up & make a mark in the precious gravel (put down without the required city permit but the city is lame about doing anything).
He yells and rakes gravel. He blows leaves to all the neighbors (never actually picks them up, he blows them to the neighbors)
No stress. No contact. No communication. It was tried, but he really is an @$$hole.
He rakes and sweeps everything - car tracks, other neighbor's car tracks, foot steps, whatever. We all ignore him and go about our business.
It was priceless seeing him do his thing in the pouring rain.
Something is wrong with the dude... He even walks lightly on it :cookoo: ...It would be far less time consuming, and far more effective to actually pave that or put the right kind of gravel down that doesn't move under your footsteps... anyway, dude's got problems if he'd rather do that dumb raking and leaf blowing crap along with dealing with neighbourhood conflict... Putting that crap down just gave himself another thing to complain about when people mess it up on purpose just because he's a dooosh.
Its so funny that they complain about the revs on your bike... GS500s sound like a friggin sewing machine! ... Just imagine if you were into Harleys and had a Harley cave and had all your Harley friends over all the time instead of GS500s!
We had some pea gravel at the end of our drive 50 ft from the garage when we moved in. That crap was constantly getting in the garage, or flung by the mower... I got tired of cleaning it up, and just wheelbarrow-ed it around back to put in the bottom of the burn pit... only thing its good for is a damn playground... definitely doesn't belong near a road...
- Bboy
could always practice burnouts patrick, or since im not walking anytime soon, why dont i ship you my goped . hell $ 4 in fuel would allow a week worth of riding there on the gravel
In warmer weather, there is Thumper. Then Olly will be getting a DRZ. Then there will be wrenching sessions, most likely including the UW motorcycle group.
The 2 stroke is "very unsettling" to them (their words).
Really, I make no effort to waste time or deal with it.
We just ride in and out.
THEY have the issues with motorcycles.
Kind of funny - we just ride then they get bent out of shape and spend all their time sweeping gravel.
Really, quite pathetic.
So....he gets mad when people spray the gravel, but won't compact it so it doesn't?
Is it a feng shui thing? Is he trying to start a rock garden?
Is the substrate hard packed?
Is it time for a GS scrambler project called ILGLGRVL ?
Wait! It just hit me! He is RAIN MAN!!!! :icon_lol:
Rake the gravel, yea, rake the ravel. Definitely must rake the gravel on Tuesdays. Exactly 200,4321 pieces of gravel. Can't rake the gravel in Wednesday. Wednesday is leaf blower day then I go to Kmart for new underwear.
You need to spray paint some of it. That would really mess him up.
A load of "crusher run" would have been so much better than that coarse stuff; not to mention that constantly raking it is making it worse and keeping it from settling.
Love a bit of irony, ironic ain't it????

I would wait until they are gone for a few days then hire a paving company to come in and pave it. Will make them go bonkers.
Clearly they are OCD, and believe they own the right of way -which they don't.
There are a couple pot holes further down the alley closer to my place. We plan to have a group of us go to the end of the alley. Dig up a couple buckets of gravel and move it down to fill the other pot holes. That would really drive him over teh edge because he thinks it is his gravel and his private drive. (It is a dead end alley so that's the only way in or out).
has anyone suggested buying some of that cold patch asphalt? we used it at my work, comes in a nice big bucket, all you have to do is pour it out and add some water and it hardens up.
I don't know if I'd do it to piss him off or if I actually wanted a hard surface there instead. It'd be a good amount of work to remove it though if he didn't like it.
tick-tok, tick-tok....a guy who is obsessed by motorcycles...who loves guns......and likes shooting at animals....who is annoyed with his neighbour carrying out maintenance chores ...and the motorcyclist is making increasingly bizarre videos as the neighbour becomes the focus of the biker's life.......and the biker exhibits behaviour intended to taunt the neighbour.....and posts the videos on the GS500 forum......and the cycle tightens.....toxic....toxic......tick-tok, tick-tok...anybody feel a little intervention from the authorities would be sensible here?????

naah he masturbates with a diegrinder. hes always a bit cranky.
Yamiwhamie, why do you try and bring sex into attempts at insults...oh, wait on, I know, COS YA DON'T GET ANY. Pitiful.
Addi, no swirling at my place, we got a long-dropper out the back.

Can somebody translate this? Babelfish is totally confused.
No flush toilet .... Pit toilet .... Considering likely location I highly doubt it
Hey, Janxiwanksie, well that flushed ya out, didn it, thought ya were ignoring me. Yud know all about - as you call them "pit toilets" down in Albi. Ya got electricity down there yet? We've got 'em here now in Blacktown to cut back on the water bills a bit. Working a real treat until Granma' teeth plunged down the hole one night last week when she was a bit pissed like. Anyway, gotta go Janxiboy, cos it's a bit wet here and the pit bull does like his run in the rain.
He gives me subject matter to practice video editing.
This time I experimented with speeding it up, old film effects and adding lots of sound effects.
You know, if he would compact it and stop dumping fresh gravel the problem would go away.
Yeah, this guy has a few screws loose. Normal people might rake their gravel once a week, not after every car, bike, and butterfly that goes by.
Did I see matching husband and wife outfits in one of the videos?

Yes you did.
But I'm sure she picked out the outfits.
I have been away from the forum for a while, and was mildly surprised that the gravel thing is still a thing. I thought maybe a guy with an unusual -maybe unhealthy- obsession with Adidas had a few screws loose. That gravel raker, however, has a hardware store full of loose screws! Watch your back Addy. That guy is rather unstable.
And keep the video editing up! Entertaining!

The wife is probably the one with the room full of loose screws. The gravel raking husband is just trying to ensure he is allowed to touch her at least once a year....and if he's extra obedient, she just might touch him. LOL
I'm curious though, how much extra gravel do they have in the garage? Or do they have a room full of gravel in the house?

adidas has plenty of guns. I would bet he never leaves home without at LEAST one.

Seems it would be quite difficult to rake gravel with a firearm but OK, :dunno_black:
