Title: ISO of Clubman Bars for GS
Post by: TheFableTheFury on November 03, 2013, 06:58:27 PM
Anyone who has clubman bars or knows of a good distributor who has them for a GS wanna point me in the right direction.
Full bars, not clip-ons. Preferably a mild drop..

Thanks

I reckon Clubmans are going to be a tank hitter unless you modify your steering lock stops to limit movement. I recently fitted 'Norton straights' onto an RZ yammie and they're really good. -Lower and slightly more forward, but not extreme. May be worth looking at - good chance your local Brit bike dealer may have them but get 'em on the bay anyway.

I don't think they hit the tank. I've seen quite a few GS with them...didn't notice any mods. I could be wrong though.

You don't don't happen to have a photo of those Norton bars on a bike do you?

Mate, the RZ is at my son's place, (no doubt he's been torturing the poor thing!) so I can't shoot it, but I'll get him to take a shot of the bars and I'll post it when it comes,
Jools

Bikemaster makes a cheap set of clubman bars, you can get them on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GZLVCK).

I've got a used set of chrome bikemaster clubmans in the garage. $10+shipping and they are yours! And no need for worries about hitting the tank, they never will. I ran 2 tanks, and 8k miles on my clubmans

Id grab that lol pretty good deal. if not that consider a set of drag bars like what comes OEM on some sportsters.
(http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i100/justiz00/IMGA1538.jpg)slightly different profile compaed to theclubmans, but heck I had em on my 03 annie. they worked pretty good.  not sure tho how theyd affect posture.

Thanks fellas. Stang, that looks great from that angle. I can't believe they're that cheap! How does your back feel? ;)

My back was never an issue. Funny part is my current GSXR has a less aggressive riding position than my GS with those bars on it. I took the clubmans off about a week before I sold it and threw drag bars on it. My bike was a 93, but when I put the '04 tank on it, the change in tank shape was just enough that my "gentleman's region" was no longer comfortable. But If you're taller than me that should pose no issue. I'm 5'7" with short arms!

The handling of the bike changes big time. With that much weight forward it takes away the think in your cornering, and turns it all into do

It's funny that you say that. After I put my clubmans on with with GSXR rearsets, I noticed the handling big time. You're right: you don't think, you just do. It's like the bike just wants to go. As far as the riding position, my friend has a CBR600, and even he was surprised at how aggressive it is. Not uncomfortable, just REALLY forward. It was even funnier to watch my friend with the Harley sit on it lol.

Yeah lol them clubmans ain't nothing to mess with! How is the feel for your legs with the gix sets on there? My GS was so damn cramped with the stock rear sets on there it was ridiculous  :2guns: Fun, but ridiculous. And my gixxer is totally backwards, relaxed upper body and legs are always tight!
