Title: Having a blast working on this bike!
Post by: zephyr_bike on November 05, 2013, 08:18:33 PM
I installed the Zero Gravity sport touring windscreen last night, took my gauges completely apart to clean the mud out from the inside of the glass, replaced the indicator lights with LEDs, replaced the gauge lights with red LEDs that actually illuminate the tach and spedo, replaced the headlight, replace the taillights, and chopped the mudflap.

The headlight is a huge difference (also helps that it's properly aligned now) and I can't believe how much of a difference the windscreen makes over the stock one. I'm 6ft and can actually ride upright now without getting blasted in the chest with wind.

Ahhh if only my gs500f still had its fairings :-( that wind...

I have found working on the bike a pleasure! having worked on a GPX250 in comparison...

Glad to hear things are going well!

Did you buy used or new? Sounds like we're both just as eager about modding/upgrading these bikes.

As each day passes, I gain more confidence in how everything on the GS works and am finding it keeps me plenty busy.

I got the bike about 6 weeks ago. It was a 2006 with only 650 miles on it so I've been doing a lot of routine maintenance for a bike that sat for quite a long time.

I'm installing progressive springs and replacing the fork oil and then heated grips within the next week. Next month will probably be a carb cleaning or rebuild.
