Title: Carb info on float screw?
Post by: SS Adrenaline on November 10, 2013, 12:39:51 PM
Could anyone tell me if the screw that holds the float assembly to the carb is another JIS screw?
Im trying to clean and inspect the valve seat, seals and needle.
Thanks.

Um.....the part that holds my float assembly in the bowl is a little pin you just push out and then full up and out the float and needed

Ok but that pin is held there by a screw.  At least it is on mine.  It turns out they are JIS.
I cracked them lose using vice grips like I had to, to open the float bowl.
I was think about using the same Allen head screws that I used to replace the JIS screws on the float bowl.  They are the exact same size and thread.  Its just that my Allen head screws are black anodized and am wondering if that coating will come off in the float bowl from the gas and then have a potential of clogging a jet?

I assume you mean black oxide since anodizing typically is for aluminum. Black Oxide won't come off, but it will rust easier.

Stainless would be the best option for carburetor fasteners.

Yaa sorry I did mean oxide.  If I keep fuel in the bowls then I dont think it will rust.
Thanks for your help guys.
