Title: My attempt to buy a GS this weekend . . . :(
Post by: BigRedMonkeyButt on January 26, 2004, 07:37:05 AM
So I drove 2hrs up to the Indianapolis area to meet CanCan to check out the bike Saturday.
But the seller wasnt there.   Turns out (I forgot my cell - he left a message) that he wasnt coming because he dumped the bike when loading it on the trailer to meet me, breaking the clutch lever and denting the tank.

So, now I need some advice.

We pretty much agreed on a price.  But the bike has a dented tank now.

So I dont know what to do at this point.  Im not sure I want to buy a bike with a dented tank, and it certainly isnt worth as much to me.

What do you guys think I should do?   :dunno:

Basic:  He installs a new tank and lever and you pay the agreed upon price.  Done deal.

or credits you the cost of said parts/install (figure $450 for tank alone).

could be a blessing. i figure as long as the engines good. a dented tank wont keep you off the road.

Hell, he should have loaded up the damaged goods and met you anyway.  I'd be tempted to tell him to bugger off.  But then again, GS's aren't exactly easy to come across in this neck of the woods.  After six months on the hunt for either a decent GS, Hawk 650, Seca II or an EX500, I had a choice between two GS's that were both two hours away-- in different directions.  I'll keep an eye out for one in the E'ville area and PM you if I come across something suitable.
