can anyone tell me what the second solenoid is for ..not the starter solenoid/relay .....it is on the K4&5 wiring but not previous models .

Solenoid ? aka a device that gets an electrical charge to a coil, gets an electromagnet energized and that in turn pulls a steel conductor to make contact with 2 other terminals ...
I doubt there is one more of those ... unless you count the turnsignal relay, which basically is a current draw based relay. It starts out like a solenoid but the added feature is that, if the steel makes contact it sucks the juice out of the other coil and it demagnetizes ...

A wagner 552 relay pretty much is non electro mechanical, and it will flash cos its basically a timer ... So its a perfect swap in.

Throttle Position Sensor: 2004+ models
2004+: There is an extra part labeled "solenoid" on the lower right of the wiring diagram - connects to stuff on carbs for emissions.
