Title: Exhaust Questions
Post by: Alan_nc on January 12, 2014, 03:04:14 PM
Bought the 02 the week after Christmas.  Had ridden some but finally got to take it out for a good run today.  HOLY COW the Vance & Hines exhaust will wake the dead at full throttle.  Like the sound but I'm afraid that at 5:00 AM when I'm leaving for work the neighbors aren't going to be happy.  I have listened to several audios on Youtube of the different exhausts on GS500s.  Did not like the sound of any of them as much as the V&H but even at idle this thing is to loud.

Is there a way to keep this sound  but tone it down some?

I just have straight pipes, nice and loud I don't have near as many near misses now. I take it of in winter and no one notices me with a remus exhaust , put my straight pipe on it yesterday ad I'm being noticed again.
I also set off to work at 5am,i have to push it off my street the start it and ride it ASAP bad I know but it's a trade I can live with.

Also get pods they give a nice deep induction tone.

I believe V&H sells a silencer that fits their mufflers. Surely something on this page will fit.

Also I am betting it isn't as loud as you think given the length of the muffler. Now my Delkevic SS70 without a baffle is dangerously loud.

Buy a silencer & cut it down 1/2" at a time till it gets to your loudness specs.

I jammed a Jardine silencer in the end of my V&H.  That makes it nice.
