Hey guys, I have a bit of a problem. I bought a 2006 GS about a month ago; great condition for the age with only 5,500miles. After a bit of riding, my only question is about the fuel tank. I read that it is supposed to hold 20/21 liters of fuel and I should technically get a range of 240miles (or thereabouts). But after the first 120 miles I had to turn on reserve and after filling up only 10 liters fit in. Is this how it's supposed to be or is something weird with my bike?
Any reply will be appreciated :D
Cheers, miki__
How are you filling it?
You can't stick the hose in like a car.
You have to hold it in the opening and watch to fill it to where the gas comes up to the bottom of the filler tube.
If the pump has one of those pain-in-the-ass boots on it, you have to hold that back with your hand so it thinks you stuck it in a car gas thingy.
Oh I know how to fill up a bike, it's not my first one so that is definitely not the problem.
Take a quart bottle of fuel with you, run it on reserve until it quits, then pour in the quart and get to a gas station!
Then you will know, after filling the tank and adding a quart to that fill amount, exactly what mileage you are getting.
