Title: New forks
Post by: Reckoning on January 20, 2014, 12:47:06 PM
I'm looking to grab new forks. Any suggestions other than stock? Stick with stock? Where do you guys look for stock parts?

Stock with Sonic Springs are great.

89-00 are easy to take apart and replace seals. The 2004+ forks are a PITA to get opened up to replace the seals.
2004+ look nicer. The extra tab for the reflector is handy to use for fog lights.

Ebay or post a want-to-buy.

If your forks are good, then replace the seals and put in Sonic Springs.

As my handle says over there to the left...I do inverted forks any time I can.

I'll take your word for it, mine is 07. I'll probably just be looking to replace them. What can I do to see if mine are still "good"? I think they are fine and just need new seals but I'm not 100% sure. They just get gunk build up but the ride is fine in my opinion.

Leaking seals can be replaced. Just not as easy on the newer ones.
New springs will make a real improvement in the handling.
If you were here, I'd say come over because we have all the tools in the Bike Cave.
